What to do in Ciutat Vella

Cultural Activities

Since it’s a quite big district, located in the heart of the city, there’s plenty of activities to do in the Ciutat Vella district! No worries, here we have a quick brief overview of our favourite things to do here:

  • Discover the medieval essence of the Gothic area: its magnificent architecture and its mysterious alleys will captivate your attention. Don’t miss the chance to take pictures in the most famous sights in here, such as the Gothic Cathedral or Calle Bisbe Irurita, one of the most spotted street in Barcelona.
  • Enjoy the leisure activities in El Paral·lel. This beautiful area stretches for three big districts of Barcelona: Eixample, Ciutat Vella and Sants-Montjuïc). Its beautiful architecture was designed by the famous city planner Ildefons Cerdà.
  • Get lost in the maritime vibes of La Barceloneta, the area that appeals to senses with vibrant colors and traditional habits (the folks here use to hang clothes outdoors), kids playing in the narrow streets and you’ll smell a salty and sea-stew aroma.
  • La Ribera is the perfect place to enjoy joyful vibes spreading all around the avantgard bars and cafes that liven up this medieval yet trendy area.
  • Taste a delicious paella in Port-Vell in one of the lovely restaurants that pops up along the beautiful promenade.

Nightlife in Barcelona

Ciutat Vella, the old town, the heart of Barcelona, is the right place for young internationals looking for a fun and exciting nightlife. This bustling area is packed with so many bars, clubs (and also after hour bars open till 2-3 pm) that you won’t be able to choose!

We suggest you Robadors 23 for an amazing live music and delicious (and cheap) tapas. Here, jazz, blues and traditional Flamenco will bustle your nights and make you live a unique Spanish experience. Among favourite clubs, there’s Shoko, one of the greatest party venues in Barcelona. Once the sun goes down, the elegant restaurant turns into a nightclub. Magic club also is one of the most popular disco clubs in Barcelona: it is divided into two areas, one for enjoying a drink and another one for dancing all night long.
