In Madrid, we love celebrations, and even though we are not in Ireland, Saint Patrick’s Day 2025 is celebrated in a big way. In March, the city turns green to mark the occasion. Whether you are Irish, a fan of Celtic culture, or simply looking for an excuse to have fun, we bring you the best plans to enjoy Saint Patrick’s Day in the Spanish capital.

1. Irish Pubs: The Heart of the Celebration

Irish pubs in Madrid are the epicenter of the festivities. Here are some of the best places to enjoy a pint of Guinness and experience an authentic Irish atmosphere:

  • The Irish Rover (Avenida de Brasil, 7): One of the most famous pubs where, in addition to great beer and delicious food, you can keep the party going with a DJ and an amazing atmosphere.
  • O’Connell St. (Espoz y Mina, 7): Located in the heart of Madrid, it’s a perfect spot to celebrate with friends.
  • James Joyce Irish Pub (Alcalá, 59): Offers a true Irish vibe with special Saint Patrick’s Day events. A great choice if you're in Madrid's city center.

2. Events & Concerts

Madrid hosts several special events to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day 2025:

  • Celtic Music Festival: Check out the schedules for venues like Galileo Galilei or Clamores, where you can enjoy live Irish folk music and bagpipes.
  • Parade & Cultural Activities: The main event will be the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, scheduled for Saturday, March 15 at 5:00 PM on Gran Vía. This year, more than 1,000 bagpipers and dancers from across Spain are expected to fill the city center with music and color.
  • Irish Music & Dance: The UCD Dance Society will offer daily performances of traditional Irish music and dance at the Gran Vía Metro Station lobby from March 10 to 17, at different times. These free performances will bring the essence of Ireland to locals and visitors alike.
  • Gaelic Football: The Madrid Harps team will organize open sessions for anyone interested in learning and playing this traditional Irish sport. The sessions will take place on Wednesday, March 12, and Saturday, March 15.

3. Irish Gastronomy

Chocolatería San Ginés joins the celebration by offering green churros on Monday, March 17. Additionally, throughout the week, several Irish pubs and restaurants in Madrid will feature special menus and tastings of traditional Irish dishes:

  • Dubliners Irish Tavern: Offers classic dishes like Irish stew and fish & chips.
  • The Clover House: Specializes in craft beers and dishes inspired by Irish cuisine.

4. Irish-Inspired Sightseeing Routes

If you want to make the most of Saint Patrick’s Day, a fun option is to explore Madrid’s landmarks that light up in green for the occasion. In some years, buildings like the Cibeles Fountain or the Palacio de Comunicaciones have joined the celebration with special illuminations.

If you're in Madrid for the celebrations but haven’t found accommodation yet, helpHousing offers rooms for students and young professionals in strategic locations across the city.

Dress in green and celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day 2025 in Madrid with these amazing plans!
