At HelpHousing, we're always looking for new ways to help you disconnect from the daily grind and meet new people. We’ve realized that going out partying is becoming a thing of the past. The way people socialize is changing — more and more are choosing exercise and healthy habits over nightlife and alcohol. That’s why we’ve just launched our very own Running Club, designed for people who want to stay fit, meet others, and explore the city all at once.
Why join the HelpHousing Running Club?
Running in a group has countless benefits, especially for young students living in a big city. Here are just a few reasons why you won’t want to miss out on this experience:
Meet new people: Join in and make friends from the very first kilometer. Our club is a community where you’ll find other students and young people eager to share goals and good vibes. The camaraderie and mutual support create a strong sense of belonging — you’ll never run alone again. Running together will become addictive.
Team motivation: We know how hard it can be to go running alone, but the group energy is contagious. The sense of group responsibility helps you stay focused. When your new friends are waiting to run, it’s much easier to stick to your training.
Stay fit (and clear your mind): Running is one of the most complete exercises for both physical and mental health. It helps reduce stress — perfect during exam season — and boosts your mood. Training with others enhances mental well-being and strengthens social bonds. It’s basically therapy in motion with friends.
Discover Madrid while running
One of the best things about running clubs is that you get to sightsee while exercising. Imagine jogging on a Saturday morning under the trees of El Retiro Park (a great choice for beginners), surrounded by Madrid locals who love running. Running in El Retiro is almost a must for anyone living in Madrid — and you’ll discover it alongside new friends.
Another one of our favorite group running spots is Madrid Río, the linear park along the Manzanares River. It stretches over 10 kilometers of flat paths, perfect for all levels. Want a longer route surrounded by nature? You’ll love Casa de Campo, a huge park where you can find routes of up to 17 kilometers through trees and around a scenic lake. Don’t worry — you don’t have to run 17 km if you don’t want to. We’ll adjust the distances to suit the group. The idea is to go beyond the typical tourist spots and explore corners of Madrid you might never find otherwise — step by step and in great company.
And it’s not all about running: at the end of each session, we always stretch together and grab something to eat to refuel. You deserve a treat after your run — you’re in Spain, after all. Running through the city will make you feel like a true local.
A running club for everyone
Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or someone who still gets winded climbing stairs, what really matters here is your willingness to participate. What makes our Running Club special is its inclusive, easygoing atmosphere where you’ll feel welcome. There will be chances to speed up if you’re in the mood, but in general, we’re not obsessed with the stopwatch.
Running in a group is also safer and more motivating. If you’re new to Madrid, you might feel uneasy running alone early or late in the day — that’s where the club has your back. We always run together and look out for each other. Not feeling like going for a run on a Tuesday after class? We get it — but you’ll soon find those afternoons become the highlight of your week when you know your group is waiting to enjoy a good time. It’s been proven that running with others lifts your mood and helps reduce study-related stress.
