What is the origin of Valentine's Day?

This day is celebrated on February 14th of each year. Even though you should express your love to your partner everyday of the year, this is a special occasion to remind him/her how special he/she is for you.

 Do you know who Saint Valentine was? The legend says he was a priest during the third century in Rome. At the time, it was believed  single men were better soldiers than the married ones. Valentine found this unfair so he outlawed married to young men in secret. When the Emperor found out he put him to death. Valentine was a martyr so now this day is celebrated to commemorate the anniversary of his death.
