On 7 December, Milan celebrates St. Ambrose, patron saint of the city, on the eve of the feast of the Immaculate Conception.
To celebrate, the Milanese attend the mass celebrated by the Archbishop of Milan in the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio.
The Milanese begin the Christmas celebrations with various events such as: the lighting of the Christmas tree lights in the Piazza del Duomo, the "premiere" of the Teatro alla Scala and the "Oh bej! Oh bej!" and, finally, the tasting of panettone.
The "premiere" of the Scala Theatre
The Teatro alla Scala is the most famous theatre in the world, a temple of opera, dance and music.
