PICASSO MUSEUM

The Picasso Museum is probably the most important in Barcelona. It is in fact the largest collection of works by Pablo Picasso, and includes not only paintings, but also ceramics, sculptures and drawings. The museum is housed in five historic and contiguous buildings in the La Ribera district. The palaces themselves are very interesting for their unique and suggestive architectural characteristics. The palaces house the 15 permanent collections (more than 4000 works) which exhibit the work of Picasso from his youth.

JOAN MIRÓ FOUNDATION

On the Montjuïc hill is the museum of the painter and sculptor Joan Miró. With his surreal style he is known as one of the greatest artists in the history of Barcelona. The museum was created by the artist himself. The building is two-story and includes large open rooms, swimming pools, terraces overlooking the city and gardens that house sculptures. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions by other contemporary painters and sculptors.

GAUDÍ HOUSE MUSEUM

You will certainly know Antoni Gaudí as the artist who designed the Sagrada Familia, but if you decide to visit Parc Güell, we advise you not to miss this museum dedicated to the famous architect.

The Gaudí House Museum is located within the wonderful Parc Güell and was the home of the artist and architect Antoni Gaudí for almost twenty years (1906-1925). On 28 September 1963 the house was renovated as a museum and now houses a collection of furniture and objects designed by the architect.

The building consists of 4 floors, 2 of which are open to the public, the second floor houses the Enric Casanelles Library which can be accessed on request.

MNAC (NATIONAL ART MUSEUM OF CATALONIA)

The MNAC is the national museum of Barcelona and is located inside Palau Nacional, on the Montjuïc hill. The museum has works belonging to different historical periods (from the 12th to the 20th century) and a huge collection of Romanesque art, considered one of the richest and most complete in the world. The Palau Nacional is divided into 7 rooms that cover the various artistic periods: Gothic, modern, neoclassical, avant-garde, modernism, Romanesque and noucentisme.

Among the many works of art we can find the signatures of famous artists such as Francisco de Zurbarán, Tiziano, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Marià Fortuny, Antoni Gaudí and El Greco.

Once your visit to the museum is over, you can take the opportunity to go up to the museum terrace and admire the incredible panorama overlooking Plaça d’Espanya.

COSMOCAIXA

Another museum that we recommend you visit in addition to those dedicated to art is the CosmoCaixa, one of the best interactive science museums for children but it is equally interesting for adults. It is divided into several rooms: the Amazon rainforest, the Geological Wall, the planetarium. Among other things, it is possible to admire Foucault's pendulum, a simulator of waves, tropical trees and animals in aquariums and terrariums.

MUSEUM OF THE FUTBOL CLUB BARCELONA AND CAMP NOU

A completely different kind of museum is the one dedicated to the Barcelona football team and its stadium, which is the largest stadium in Europe. The Museum collects the prizes won by the team, photos, documents, interactive screens and memorabilia such as the shoes and jerseys used by the champions who played for FC Barcelona. For football lovers this museum is truly unmissable.
