The services you can find in the public transport in Valencia are: bus, metro lines covering the city and the suburbs (integrated with tram lines), bike rental, Renfe and Cercanías that connect the city with the surrounding areas in the region and in Spain.

Some of the services, such as the bus, also work at night, while the last metro in Valencia leaves at 11pm. But no worries, you always have a safe way and alternative options to get where you want.

Metro and trams in Valencia

The metro in Valencia is a great way to get around. There are five lines running throughout the city.

Anyways, sometimes, for specific destinations (especially in the historic centre), you may need to use the bus. Therefore, our tip is to purchase combined cards so you can use both the metro and bus.

The tram in Valencia is integrated into the metro network. If you want to know more about routes and timetables, you can find it on the official Metrovalencia website. You can also find a couple lines among the Metrovalencia services that run on the surface: the number 4 and 6.

EMT Urban buses in Valencia

We can say that the bus network is the widest and most complete among the different public transportation in Valencia: it stretches all over the city, from the centre to the suburbs. You can check out the official EMT website to discover the route and the lines that suit you best and more information about bus maps, ticket prices, timetables, etc.  

Bike rentals in Valencia by Valenbisi

Valencia also boasts a wide and efficient bike rental service called Valenbisi and offered by the Ayuntamiento de Valencia. There are several Valenbisi stations throughout the city and you can check them out online (and their availability, as well)..

In order to use this bike rental service, you will be asked for a registration: you can choose between the weekly pass (less than 14 euros, but for the current prices always consult the official website) or the annual subscription. 

EMT Prices and tickets for the public transport in Valencia 

How to choose the right ticket option? You should consider different things such as: the area of your accommodation in Valencia, the distance with your university/workplace, the length of your stay here and the easy access to the best areas of the city (beach, bars and restaurants, shopping avenues etc.).
You can also take a couple days to walk around, explore the city and decide if most of your daily itineraries are walkable or if you need to use the public transport in Valencia.

Now, you first need to know that the public transport in Valencia is divided into zones and to get access to different areas you need to purchase the upgraded ticket.

Where to purchase the different tickets and passes? You can buy most of the single tickets directly from the bus driver, but if you want a more complete pass you need to apply at an authorised point of sale, taking some requested documents with you.

Personalised EMT cards (for young internationals in Valencia)

Abono Transporte (monthly pass)

The price of this card is 5 € plus the monthly recharge, which varies depending on the zones that you want to include (from 45 € up to 79 € ).

In order to obtain this pass, you will need to take 1 photo of you in passport size and a copy of your document (ID or passport).

You can purchase the Abono in tobacco sales points, authorised kiosks and Metro stations.

EMT Jove (monthly pass for under 30 years old)

This is the monthly pass for young people under 30. The price of the rechargeable card is 3 € and each recharge is 25 € per month. The EMT Jove definitely is the best option for those students who need to use the public transport in Valencia on a daily basis (valid for both bus and metro).

You can apply in any of the EMT customer service offices and you will need to bring the original and a copy of your ID/passport. Otherwise you can already fill this form and hand it over in the office.

Non-customised tickets

• Single ticket / EMTicket: the price is 1.50 € and it’s valid for one trip without any transfers.

• Bonobús: 10 trips (with transfers included), only valid for EMT buses. The price is 8,50 €

• Bono Travel Card and Bono Travel Card zone ABCD: 10 trips with transfers valid for EMT buses and Metro. The basic one only includes Zone A and it costs 9 €. The more zones you want to add the higher the price is.  

• T1 - T2 - T3: Unlimited trips for one person for 1, 2 or 3 days. This pass is recommended for tourists and visitors and it gives you access to Metro and EMT buses.
