Nowadays, there’s only a few left of the old 12 gates of the Valencia city wall and Torres the Serrano is one of them. It was built in Valencian Gothic style at the end of the 14th century and it’s located in the northeast side of the old town, in the city centre.
Back in the centuries, its main purpose was to defend the city, but it also was used for welcoming guests and ambassadors, for cerimonies as it was the main entrance to the city.
